Professional Background
Andrea is a fourth year graduate student in Clinical Psychology. Her research interests focus on children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the use of technology for diagnosis and treatment of developmental disorders. Her thesis project looked at eye gaze analysis during facial emotion recognition and expression tasks in adolescents with ASD. For her preliminary exam, she reviewed the current literature on application of technology to communication impairments in childhood and adolescence. Andrea's current work aims to assess the feasibility of an attention modification intervention to address deficits in facial emotion recognition and expression in children with ASD. Her long-term goals are set on an academic position so she can continue to conduct applied clinical research.
