Isaac C. Smith, M.S.
Virginia Tech, Doctoral Student
Child Study Center, Graduate Researcher
Professional Background
Isaac is a third year graduate student working with Dr. Susan White. Broadly, his research focuses on evaluating outcomes and quality of life for adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Isaac is particularly interested in examining the effects of other types of psychopathology that frequently co-occur in individuals with ASD (e.g., depression, anxiety), and how these might impact outcomes. He also hopes to contribute to research re-examining the way ASD is assessed and treated, especially for individuals in emerging adulthood.
Personal Background
In his free time, Isaac loves to get outside: mountain biking is a favorite, as well as skiing, hiking, camping, soccer, and tennis. He also enjoys reading, cooking, and playing guitar.
Active Projects
Treatment Study
Isaac is a Co-Investigator for an NIH grant-funded study on a new program that targets successful transition of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) from high school to post-secondary education. Enrollment is open.
